A BAYSWATER North social group is bringing people together to hear guest speakers, visit interesting places and enjoy the company of others.
The Glen Park Connections group is for anyone aged over 50 and meets Wednesdays at the Glen Park Community Centre.
Community centre manager Robyn Murray said the group was "absolutely social" and had more than 50 members.
"There are a lot of older people who live in Bayswater North so it is very good to have participation from that community area," she said.
The group, which plans its activities several weeks in advance, has had guest speakers including local police and the Red Cross, as well as a retired politician, a beekeeper and an animal care group.
Group member Tess said the meetings were relaxed and offered plenty of fun.
"We had someone from the Laughter Club, so we had a laughter afternoon," she said.
"That was good. We try not to have a guest speaker every week; we try for variety. Games one week, a guest speaker the next or a bus trip."
The group, which began in April last year, is planning a visit to Como House in March.
Group member Dianne said a strength of the group was that all members contributed.
"Everybody chips in, it's not just a few. Different people like different things."
