High voltage risk cuts Knox power

TEN thousand Knox residents were without power early this morning after a man illegally entered a Bayswater power station.

Sergeant Romano De Kauwe of Boronia police said the man climbed onto a high voltage structure at the station on the corner of Bayswater Road and Glen Park Road about 6.10am.

SP AusNet said residents in Bayswater, Croydon and Boronia were without power for 40 minutes.

The man was was trying to avoid police arrest for an unrelated charge.

He was safely back on the ground just before 7am.
