Sergeant David Young said police had noticed there was a real spike in traffic offences during February, probably because there were more vehicles back on the roads after the summer holiday break.
Sergeant Young said while police were pleased with how a statewide summer road enforcement campaign had gone in Knox, drivers still needed to slow down.
"While there was a reduction in serious injury collisions there was still an increase in collisions resulting in minor injuries."
Sergeant Young said that during the summer campaign, 111 people in Knox were caught speeding between 10 and 25km/h over the speed limit.
Knox police breath-tested more than 8500 drivers between December 16 and January 8, 45 of whom were charged with drink-driving offences.
"In such a short period of time that is a disturbing number of people caught driving at an unacceptable speed. People just aren't getting the message - they need to stick to the speed limit."
