BAYSWATER Secondary College is one of hundreds of Victorian schools to sign up to take part in Scope disability services' See the Person Week.
The week aims to encourage students to see the person, not their disability.
Scope chief executive officer Diana Heggie said the week was designed to "create respect, understanding and acceptance of others as well as raising awareness and understanding of the lives of people with a disability".
The week runs from May 17-21 and the launch at Melbourne High School on May 17 will feature Melbourne rock band Rudely Interrupted.
The band's lead singer, Rory Burnside, was born without eyes and has Asperger's syndrome, a form of autism.
"Together, we change the way people see disability," Burnside said. "I might have been born without eyes but I'm still a successful musician in a great rock band."
The band has played at the UN in New York and is about to embark on a tour of of the US and Canada. It will donate the proceeds from their new single Close My Eyes to Scope.
Money raised through the sale of wrist bands will go towards the respite services Scope provides.
