Men's shed rakes in tool donations

03 Feb, 2010 04:00 AM
BUSINESSES across the outer east have donated much-needed equipment to Glen Park Community Centre's recently opened Men's Shed.

The shed has received power machinery and tools from the Ringwood Rotary Club, raking equipment from Safer Storage Solutions in Dandenong, second-hand timber from Mitre 10 in Bayswater, and paint from Astec Paints in Bayswater.

Organiser Peter Harris said the donations had been a "magnificent" boost to the program.

"It's great to have local organisations getting on board. It's really helped the shed move forward. We started with one day a week but that class is almost full so we're looking to run a second day."

Mr Harris said the Men's Shed had been "very successful" since opening late last year.

"Part of the project is the guys constructing the internal part of the shed, so [the donations] have put us a lot further ahead than what we expected to be."

Glen Park Community Centre's Men's Shed is looking for more donations. Details: 92947525.
