Pets and fireworks don't mix

25 Jan, 2012 04:00 AM
PET owners are reminded to consider the safety and security of their animals on Australia Day around firework celebrations.

Last year, 26 dogs were taken to the three Animal Aid shelters in the region after running away in a panic during fireworks; on average 5 to 10 per cent do not get reclaimed.

Owners should keep their pet in a room with few windows, such as a laundry.
