Power station intruder causes blackout

01 Feb, 2012 03:00 AM
TEN thousand Knox residents were left without power last Wednesday morning after a man illegally entered a Bayswater power station.

Sergeant Romano De Kauwe of Boronia police said the man climbed onto a high-voltage structure at the station on the corner of Bayswater and Glen Park roads about 6.10am when allegedly trying to avoid arrest over an unrelated incident.

SP AusNet said residents in Bayswater, Croydon and Boronia were left without power for 40 minutes after it was turned off as a safety precution.
