KILSYTH Liberal MP David Hodgett has repeated his call for the State Government to release the results of a review of bus services in Melbourne's outer east.
Then transport minister Lynne Kosky first announced a review of Knox, Maroondah and Yarra Ranges bus services in June 2008.
She said the review would assess the effectiveness of bus services in meeting community needs.
"No one knows what people want from their local bus services better than the people who live and work in the area, which is why this review is structured around public consultation."
The review started early last year but its results are yet to be released.
Mr Hodgett last week told Parliament he had been told the review had been completed but the Government had "refused" to release the results.
"It was announced with great fanfare and was trumpeted as yet another State Government initiative to improve local bus services.
"But where is it? What has happened to it? You have to ask, What is the secret? Why will the Government not take note of our concerns and suggestions for improvements?"
Earlier this month, Eastern Metropolitan Labor MP and parliamentary secretary for public transport, Brian Tee, said the results of the review, which would be announced in the next couple of months, would bring further improvements to public transport in the outer east.
"I suspect you will see further improvements around public transport arising out of that."
Mr Hodgett said more buses with lower floors were needed in the local bus network, as well as more services on weekends, in particular on Sundays.
The State Government did not respond to the Journal's inquiries before deadline.
