KNOX athlete Dakota Pyke is proving to be one step ahead of the pack after a series of great performances recently.
Pyke is an under-12 athlete for the Knoxfield Club at the Knox Little Athletics Centre.
At the recent Victorian Little Athletics state championships, Pyke won three gold medals in the three events that she qualified. She broke a new state record in the 70 metres. She took out the girls' under-12 70m run in 9.22 seconds, narrowly beating Knox athlete Monique Hoskin.
In the 200m, Knox completed a trifecta, with Pyke's time of 27.04 seconds enough to get her across the line from Mikaela Davis and Hoskin.
Pyke made it three wins from three races in the 100m. Her time of 13.62 seconds put her in front of Davis and Hoskin. She also competed in the Pan Pacific Games in Sydney, winning the 100m and 200m events.
For her efforts Pyke has been chosen this week's Sports Star of the Week.
