CROYDON catcher Grant Karlsen can finally add Victorian baseball silverware to his mantelpiece after a successful Claxton Shield campaign.
Victoria defeated South Australia 2-0 in the best-of-three series, with Karlsen sitting out the second game.
"I didn't play too well, and I can't help but think it had something to do with me missing the decider," he said.
In 2007, Karlsen was cut from the Victorian Aces' Claxton Shield winning team in favour of a 15-year-old prodigy - now playing college baseball in the US.
"I still cop grief from the boys about missing that series - for a 15-year-old," he said. "It's a relief to finally have a bit of silverware to take home."
The Claxton Shield, the highest level of baseball in Australia, is a hotly contested summer competition with sides from across the nation fighting for the coveted shield.
