■ On Christmas Eve, the FTGDCA lost one of its great servants when Ron Lomax died aged 90.
Lomax attended the foundation meeting of the association in August 1947 and assumed administrative duties in the early 1950s as association vice-president.
He then became entrenched in the association's most famous administration partnership when he operated as treasurer alongside Jack Feaver (20 years as secretary) for 15 seasons between 1960-61 and 1974-75.
The Lomax name remains entrenched in the annals of the FTGDCA with the awarding of the second grade best and fairest medal each season.
