JONATHON Patton is set to be awarded the Jack Collins-Alan Schwab AFL Life Members Scholarship on Thursday night.
The Eastern Ranges key-position forward has been a revelation this season and will feature prominently in his TAC Cup team's best and fairest award.
Also an Australian Institute of Sport Scholarship holder, the 193-centimetre prospect joins an impressive list of previous scholarship holders.
Luke Hodge, Joel Selwood, Tom Scully and Nic Naitanui all held the award before being picked up by AFL clubs.
Ranges region manager Anthony Parkin said Patton's progress had been astounding. "He's improved a lot since the under 16s. He was always talented but I didn't know he was this good." Essendon champion Matthew Lloyd has been Patton's mentor at the AIS this year and Parkin believes this has helped the Scoresby junior develop.
