Mulgrave batters tame clumsy Tigers

29 Oct, 2008 10:41 AM
ERRORS proved costly for Upwey Ferntree Gully Tigers in their Victorian Baseball Association division two clash with Mulgrave.

The Tigers got off to a good start, taking an early two-run lead following some good hitting by Michael Oxworth, before Mulgrave answered with four of their own.

The lead changed all the way up until the ninth innings when the scores were tied at nine each. But then some costly fielding errors by the Tigers added four runs to Mulgrave's total.

When the Tigers' bats failed again in the bottom half of the innings, the game was over. The final score was Mulgrave 13 defeating Upwey FTG 9.

There were some outstanding performances from pitchers Sean Meldrum and Scott Groner , but the Tigers' defence and their inability to execute proved damaging.

On Saturday, the Tigers take on Ormond-Glenhuntly at Monash University.
