Better shooting grabs second spot for Wandin

01 Sep, 2010 01:00 AM
WANDIN has snatched second position on the Yarra Valley Mountain District Netball League division 1 ladder with a seven-goal victory over Upwey Tecoma.

In a close encounter, with the teams very even in all positions, it was Wandin's superior goal-shooting that won the day 52-45.

Woori Yallock finished its season on a downer with a 18-goal loss to Gembrook Cockatoo on Saturday.

Mount Evelyn completed its perfect season, defeating Olinda Ferny Creek 75-34, while Monbulk beat Warburton Millgrove by 20 goals.

In division 2, Emerald travelled to Yarra Junction for the elimination final and was far too good, winning 73-21, meaning a meeting with Seville this week.

In the qualifying final, Seville met Yea for the second time in recent weeks, Yea turning the tables with a 54-28 win. Yea's goalers shot more accurately this time.

Yea will meet the reigning premier, Powelltown, and Seville will face the well-performing Emerald.
