QUESTIONS over childcare affordability and the lack of qualified workers in the industry were raised at a forum hosted by federal MP Alan Tudge last week.
Dozens of parents and childcare providers attended the forum, with special guests the shadow minister for childcare and early childhood Sussan Ley and Child Care Centres Association of Victoria chief executive Frank Cusmano.
Other issues raised included the introduction of a mandatory 15 hours of preschool for four year olds and a critical need for more funding for occasional care. The occasional care program at Orana Neighbourhood House in Wantirna was raised as a centre in jeopardy.
