A CRANBOURNE man in his 20s is in a critical condition at The Alfred hospital after his van hit a stationary truck on EastLink this afternoon (Thursday).
The accident happened between the High Street Road and Burwood Highway exits in Wantirna before 1pm.
A police spokesman said the truck was filled with dead chickens, and meat was strewn across the three lanes.
Nortbound lanes on EastLlink were closed after the accident while emergency services cleared the scene.
The road has now re-opened, according to VicRoads, but the left lane remains closed.
Traffic is heavy on approach from Ferntree Gully Road and drivers are advised to allow extra travel time.
