AN elderly man has died after suffering severe burns in a house fire in Scoresby last Saturday.
CFA crews were called to the Ferntree Gully Road home about 5.30pm as flames were engulfing the single-storey home.
Firemen found the man inside the house and paramedics were called. He was taken to hospital in a serious condition with burns to 80 per cent of his body, but died on Monday.
The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen and was contained to half the house.
About 25 firefighters from Scoresby, Rowville, Boronia and Bayswater fought the blaze.
The house also suffered extensive smoke and water damage.
