THE YMCA Swimathon is on again and Tom of Boronia already has a floating start for the event on Sunday, March 3 from 10am.
The event raises money to help teach disadvantaged children and adults how to swim.
Knox Leisureworks manager Amanda Locke said the ability to enjoy water and learn to swim was an important life skill, just like reading or writing.
"But what if you have a disability, come from a country where you may have never seen a pool before, or your parents can't afford lessons?," she said.
