FGTCA: Gully starts Country Week off with win

FERNTREE Gully District Cricket Association got off to the perfect start at Melbourne Country Week with a win over West Gippsland CA at Casey Fields on Monday.

The FTGDCA batted first and made 6-229 from its 50 overs with Ferntree Gully Footballers player Nick Boger scoring 76 not out and Ferntree Gully's Jayden Bradbury 43.

The FTGDCA bowlers, led by Ferntree Gully's Muhammad Farrukh (5-33) and Upper Gully's Jay Colee (2-31), kept the West Gippsland chase held down for the much of the innings before bowling them out for 185 in 48 overs.

The FTGDCA played Hamilton yesterday with the match finishing after the Weekly went to print. FTGDCA's Melbourne Country Week campaign continues with Bairnsdale at Ivanhoe Park today, then plays Traralgon at Mt Waverley Reserve tomorrow.

The final will be played on Friday.
