CFA: New Rowville station on its way

The long wait for a new Rowville CFA station is almost over — construction is set to begin this month at the 6000-square-metre site on the corner of Wellington Road and Le John Street. The $5.5 million project will provide room for four paid firefighters and 55 volunteers. CFA eastern metropolitan regional director Dave Barker (pictured) said there had been significant growth in Rowville in the past 20 years and the brigade responds to 300 incidents a year. "To keep up with these growing demands, the CFA needs to change the way it protects life and property in Rowville." The station will have accommodation for six staff, a four-bay drive through motor room, training yard and offices. It is expected to open by the end of the year. Picture: Sam Stiglec
