KNOX Raiders will get to test out the brand new State Basketball Centre at Wantirna South this Saturday night.
The Raiders men's and wome'ns South East Australian Basketball League sides will play in the new stadium after receiving confirmation from the project managers today (Wednesday).
Both teams face Brisbane Spartans at the SBC with the women’s match at 6pm and the men’s game at 8pm.
Entry cost will be a gold coin donation which the Raiders will donate to a leading cancer charity.
The Weekly reported the Raiders could play at the SBC in today’s print edition.
Raiders officials have urged supporters and basketball fans from across Melbourne to come out and see the new 3200 seat venue and cheer on the Raiders who will face stiff opposition from the two Brisbane sides.
The SBC is part of the Eastern Recreation Precinct which includes the Knox Regional Soccer Centre which was opened late last year.
The SBC will officially be opened when the Australian national men's team, known as the Boomers, plays Greece on June 25 as part of the Boomers' pre-Olympic farewell series.
The venue will also host the match between the Australian women's team, the Opals, and Brazil on June 28. Tickets for both matches are still available.
The State Basketball Centre is on George Street, Wantirna South, just off the High Street Road.
