NEW lights at Bayswater Oval could be switched on before the end of the current Eastern Football League season.
Bayswater president Greg Clark said the lights were up and awaiting final cabling work and power connection.
He said the club would need to wait at least two weeks until the power was connected but hoped they could test the lights during an under-19s game.
‘‘If they are ready on time we would hope to play an under-19s game as a trial,’’ he said. ‘‘Early next season we want to play a few senior night games early in the season while the weather is still good.’’
Clark said the new lights would have a brightness level of 150 lux, strong enough to host night football and cricket matches.
The installation of new coaches boxes and player shelters at the oval would include direct phone communication between each bench and coaches box, he said.
Clark said concrete terraces had also be put down on either side of the ground but neither was undercover.
