One man was dead from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning after a gas leak at a Ferntree Gully bakery this morning.
Another man was taken to Maroondah Hospital in a critical condition.
CFA crew were called to the bakery in Alpine Street shortly after 7am to find the two men unconscious.
Firefighters found a petrol generator at the back of the bakery.
Police were investigating but said the cause was not suspicious. WorkSafe was also investigating.
