A FAMILY of five made a lucky escape this morning after a fire completely destroyed their Rowville home.
The CFA were called to an address on Westminster Drive shortly after 3.30am.
The double-storey house was fully engulfed by flames when crews arrived. The family were alerted by a smoke alarm and escaped unharmed.
Operations officer Jason Lawrence said it was initially thought one family member was missing, but she was later found at a friend’s house.
Eight trucks from Bayswater, Dandenong, Rowville and Scoresby took more than an hour to bring the fire under control.
The cause of the blaze has yet to be determined but it is believed to have started in a bedroom, and is not being treated as suspicious.
