SCORESBY Football Club has dumped coach Scott Whyte.
Magpies officials told players following their elimination from the Eastern Football League division 1 finals that Whyte was reappointed for 2013.
In his first season with the club Whyte took the Magpies to second place on the EFL ladder before the team was knocked out of the finals by grand-finalists Vermont and Balwyn.
In response to an email from the Weekly, Whyte confirmed the Magpies were looking for a new senior coach.
Whyte said he had met with the club’s president on Tuesday afternoon and told he would not be coaching the side next year.
‘‘It was obviously a shock as I had not seen it coming, and the last contact I had from the committee was after the Balwyn game where they announced I had been reappointed for next year,’’ he said.
‘‘I 100 per cent accept the decision the club has made and they are entitled to do that as they clearly feel I am not the person to take the club forward, but I am still in the dark as to exactly why the decision has been made and have not been told the exact reasons as yet.’’
Whyte came to the EFL from Victorian Football League club Northern Blues at the start of this season.
Whyte said he would look to snare a role in the TAC Cup competition for next season.
He and his wife are expecting their first child in the coming days.
