EFL: Thrill for Scoresby, agony for Knox

SCORESBY under-19s and Knox Falcons reserves experienced polar opposite days during the Eastern Football League division 1 grand final day on Saturday.

The Magpies under-19s stormed home in the final term to win their grand final over Lilydale but the Falcons couldn't hold off undefeated Vermont, whose six goals to three final term gave them a comeback 12-point victory.

In the reserves grand final, the Falcons led by three points at three-quarter-time and looked a chance to cause a major upset. But Vermont showed why it went undefeated in 2012 with a crushing final term.

The Falcons were far from disgraced, with Matt Sutherland and Marcus Jordan each kicking four goals and Jordan named best player. Mitch Greaves, Gareth Britten, Sutherland, Isaac McCrimmon and Damien Giaforte also starred.

In the under-19s grand final, the Magpies held a one-point lead at the final change, then powered home to take their second straight division 1 under-19s premiership by 31 points.

Andre Angemi kicked three goals for the Magpies and Jacob Zboril two. The Magpies' best were David Del Papa, Stephen Scott, Matt Little, Ryan Silver and Angemi.
