ROWVILLE premiership coach Paul Mynott will lead the Hawks into the Eastern Football League division 1 competition next season.
Hawks president David Howlett confirmed yesterday Mynott had agreed to continue as coach after leading the Hawks to the EFL division 2 premiership this season.
Howlett also said the Hawks had started their post-season player interviews and wanted to keep their young side together for the move up to division 1.
"Paul was appointed for two years and he was in his second year this season," Howlett said. "During the year he did not want to make a commitment about next season and we accepted that. It was always the club's view that Paul would be the coach if he wanted to stay on."
Howlett said Mynott had started sitting down with his players on Monday night and would continue the post-season interviews over the coming weeks. "We have a good young list and I'm sure guys will be targeted by other clubs but we hope to keep everyone together," he said.
Hawks veteran Marc Hardy has also told the club he will be seeking a senior coaching role at another club in 2013.
The Hawks' best and fairest results have also been announced, with Damian Garner taking out the Paul Mynott award as senior team best and fairest player. Garner won the award from Robbie McEwin and Alex Frawley. Nathan Hicks won the club's goalkicking award.
In the reserves Jesse Owen won the David Healey award as reserves best and fairest from Charles McKee while in the under-19s Gavin Pears won the Peter Winstone award as under-19s best and fairest from Jamie Lipetri and Michael Wheeler.
Cameron Jackson led the reserves in goalkicking and Mitchell Remington topped the under-19s.
In division 2, Mooroolbark has reappointed Brett Fisher as coach; Fisher had told the Weekly, after the Mustangs were knocked out of the finals, that he was unsure if he would go on.
But the Mustangs released a statement over the weekend announcing his reappointment.
