Wantirna South performer Sarah Burke is set to take to the stage next month in the new musical, All Shook Up.
The production from award-winning CLOC Musical Theatre promises to take audiences back in time to the days of slick hair, hip swivelling and some good old-fashioned rock'n'roll.
It will centre around the hit songs of Elvis Presley and tell a story of mistaken identity and romance, based on William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night.
Burke is no stranger to musical theatre, having performed in numerous productions over the past few years.
All Shook Up does, however, mark her CLOC debut as part of the energetic and busy dance ensemble in the show.
Her experience of working on the production has been very rewarding.
Burke admits that "it's been hard work, but it's paid off". "We are singing some of the greatest rock 'n' roll songs ever. The dancing is so upbeat and energetic — it's a heap of fun."
She confessed that she didn't know a whole lot about 'the king' before getting involved in the show but now she's an absolute Presley fan.
Audiences can expect a highly entertaining performance, with Presley fans warned to expect something slightly out of the ordinary. "The music has been given a modern take so Elvis fans will get a chance to hear his music in a new way," Burke said.
Songs will include popular hits such as Heartbreak Hotel, Love Me Tender, Don't be Cruel, Blue Suede Shoes, Jailhouse Rock, It's Now or Never and, of course, the title tune.
All Shook Up plays at The National Theatre, St Kilda, from October 5-20. Tickets: 1300 362 547 or online at cloc.org.au. Tickets: adults $45, concession $40, groups of 15 or more $40, children $30.
