Rowville company Parmalat has been recognised for its healthy habits with a nomination in the 24th annual WorkSafe Victoria awards.
The company was nominated in the category of 'commitment to workplace health and well-being' and is up against Glen Eira Council and The Burbank Group. The winners will be announced on November 1.
Let's walk to school
Registration has opened for the Walk to School challenge, which aims to encourage children to make walking a part of their daily routine to improve fitness, friendships, environment and confidence. Campaign organisers VicHealth want parents to walk their children to school for 18 school days from next Monday. About 60,000 pupils from 380 primary schools took part last year and VicHealth is confident there will be even more participants this year. VicHealth chief executive Jerril Rechter said October was a great month to take part in the challenge because the "fabulous sunshine makes it a pleasure to get out of the house and the car".
