Cr Darren Pearce is again standing for Knox Council to represent the good people of Taylor ward. At the last council election he stood on a single issue - no rate rises. He even had a website www.stopraterises.com which, like his promises, no longer exists.
So, how has Cr Pearce gone at keeping his promise? For me personally there has been a 43 per cent increase in rates since he was elected — a 43 per cent breach of trust.
Cr Pearce is a clear example of what is wrong with Knox Council. Despite claiming to be ‘independent’ on his business card, along with other councillors he simply uses the council as a stepping stone to ‘bigger things’. If he isn’t, why did he stand for Liberal preselection for the federal seat of Aston?
I expect my councillor to work for the community — not to further their political ambitions.
