ORGANISERS of a halloween event along the Yarra Valley Railway have promised this year's event will be the scariest ever.
The seventh annual Ghost Train will depart on October 26 and 27 from Healesville
railway station, and this year they've added a new event for children — The Little Train
of Spooks.
Organiser David Groom said the introduction of the children's trip meant the evening Ghost Train would be even "creepier" than previous years.
Ghost Train riders board the 1940s Walker Railmotor at Healesville station and
experience the fright of their lives as they encounter pantomimes and ghastly scenes as they travel along the track.
It's a fully interactive experience with action on and off the train, with the premise of the action a little different this year.
"We're going to be acting as a TV crew who are filming reports of paranormal activity along the train line this year," Mr Groom said.
The event took about six months to plan and they "try to change it up" each year to avoid repeat scenarios.
"We have a cult following, so we want to scare them differently each year."
Shannon McGill has performed in the pantomime for the past three years with her horse Diamond who she says loves it even more than her. "Diamond spooks at grass but not at the train tracks," she said.
The Ghost Train departs Healesville station every hour from 8pm on Friday, October 26 and 7pm on Saturday, October 27. The Little Train of Spooks runs every 45 minutes from 11am on the Saturday and there will be prizes for best costumes.
