ONE lane remains closed on the inbound section of the Princes Freeway after a pedestrian was fatally struck in Officer.
The man, who has yet to be identified, had parked in the emergency lane near the Soldiers Road overpass at 5.45am.
A city-bound vehicle hit the man and his vehicle as he exited the driver’s door. The man died at the scene.
The freeway was closed for several hours between Cardinia and Clyde roads and traffic was redirected down the Princes Highway.
There were lengthy delays in both directions on the Princes and Monash freeways.
The driver of the other vehicle is assisting police with their investigation.
